As a Design Engineer with Peak Scientific, you’ll play a key role in driving the design and development of new products from conception to manufacture. Working collaboratively across teams, you will design products to the product design specifications with a strong focus on Quality. You’ll also be involved with the identification and evaluation of new materials, methods, suppliers and processes.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary technology department, you will bring innovative thinking and experience in designing consumer products with a strong emphasis on right first time.
Your duties will include:
- Working with minimal supervision, performing work that is varied and complex in nature
- Leading development projects whilst sometimes being supported by Associate Engineers
- Developing new products and technologies in line with the company’s product roadmap considering repeatable manufacture and ease of service in the field
- Revising or modifying existing products or components to improve performance, product quality or reliability
- Ensuring products are designed to conform to international standards for safety and product compliance
- Design of tests and analysis of data to drive positive product changes
You will have a minimum of five years’ experience in a design engineering role and a degree in Mechanical or Product Design, or a similar relevant engineering discipline. You’ll be able to apply a broad knowledge of engineering principles, practices and procedures with robust IT skills. It would also be advantageous to have experience working on multiple concurrent projects and awareness of pneumatic or hydraulic systems. Knowledge of Nitrogen and Hydrogen gas generation would be a bonus.
You will also possess:
- Excellent 3D modelling, 2D drawing and simulation skills (preferably using Solidworks) with experience of prototyping, design of tests and data analysis
- Understanding of CFD and FEA methods and techniques
- Knowledge and awareness of LVD, EMC, and PED directives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- A working understanding of ISO 9001 quality management system principles, ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety, ISO 13485 Medical Devices and IEC 61010 would be preferable
- A working knowledge of DFMEA
