Electronics and Embedded Software Engineer - Glasgow

Within the Design Engineering Department, the Electronics and Embedded Software Engineer will work collaboratively to design and develop the control systems of the generators or supporting technology. You will also work both independently and as a team to research and develop new technologies to make Peak’s generators truly best in class.

Frequently working within, or leading, cross functional teams; you will play a key role in driving the concept design of new products and technologies. Identification and evaluation of new methods, suppliers and processes will be key in improving quality, functionality, performance, and reliability through innovative design.

The role will also involve:

  • Developing new technologies suitable for market acceptance, their manufacture and servicing in the field
  • Researching industry technology trends to ensure Peak remains at the forefront
  • Revising or modifying existing products or components to improve performance or reliability
  • Investigating reduction in manufacturing cost through continual improvement and standardisation
  • Driving product quality through robust validation and testing of components and generators
  • Constructing prototype generators
  • Providing prompt technical support to production and service delivery

You will possess strong PCB design and manufacture skills using dedicated software package with experience of developing GUIs and other user interactions. You’ll be educated to degree level in Software/Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience with hands on workshop skills.

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, primarily based around STM32 microcontrollers
  • Strong knowledge of writing robust code in Embedded C and its development environments e.g., STM32CubeIDE, MATLAB Coder.
  • Experience of Internet of Things (IoT) integration and development
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Can do attitude and ability to remain calm and react positively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask with proven problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
