Peak Scientific Instruments, a fast–growing company specialising in the manufacture of laboratory and industrial gas generators for the life science and biomedical market, is looking to recruit Field Service Engineer/ Service Sales Specialist.
Peak Scientific Instruments is an award-winning and reputable company, with head office and manufacturing in Scotland. They are looking for an experienced technician to care for their generators in the field, with commercial acumen for developing service sales.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, this role reports unto the Regional Service Manager seated in JAPAC headquarters in Singapore. The role will initially be home-based, with work-related travels mostly within Vietnam, and occasional visits to regional offices whenever required.
Core functions:
  • Carry out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, installations and operation training as well as general support in a professional, prompt and efficient manner to ensure total customer satisfaction
  • Prospect, promote and follow up on service sales and contracts to distributors and users
The priority for the role is to attend to service-related field work. For the periods where there is no field-based work, the candidate is expected to work on developing service sales business, with an assigned sales target.
Other responsibilities:
  • Respond effectively and professionally to all customer requests for service and support (telephone and e-mails)
  • Provide customers and head office with a clear and accurate service report for all works and jobs carried out
  • Maintain and replenish personal van stock of parts and carry out inventory checks as requested
  • Support Territory Manager, Vietnam closely to develop sales business in the territory
  • Customer relationship development through regular OEMs, distributors and end-user visits
  • Ensure an effective liaison with other Peak departments (sales, marketing, logistics, engineering and production) to ensure a high level of communication and co-operation for all aspects of customer and product support
  • Inform Regional Service Manager of all serious customer complaints and escalations
  • Provide a high level of service and technical advice for Peak Scientific customers, OEMs, distributors and internal staff
  • Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry will be an advantage
  • Keen commercial sense in service sales generation
  • Some knowledge of electronics, hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of national Health and Safety
  • Language skills – Fluent English and Vietnamese, spoken and written
  • Willingness to travel on short notice
Applicants are preferably educated to a Higher Diploma or Diploma standard in a relevant field, though qualification by experience will be considered.
