THE COMPANY: Peak Scientific Instruments is the global market leader in the design, manufacture and servicing of instrument gas generators for analytical laboratories in the life science and biomedical sectors.  We have been developing award-winning gas generation products since 1997 and now employ over 500 people globally in 20 international offices, with a turnover of £66M. Over the last five years the company has enjoyed impressive annual growth between 25 and 30%, overall and 60% growth across the service division, selling 90% of our gas generator products overseas to over 126 countries.

Peak Japan is a key market for Peak Scientific both in terms of growth and its contribution to our global business. Since opening a dedicated office in Tokyo in 2012, Peak continues to invest heavily in Japan. We have ambitious growth plans for the coming few years in terms of Sales and headcount. You will be joining a team of 8+ and learn about the fusion of Japan and UK working cultures.

With this continuing success and growth we are looking for a Field Service Engineer to support our service operations in West Japan.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Country Manager, this role will be based in or around the Osaka area and involve extensive travel within Japan.

Main Job functions:

  • Providing a high level of service and technical advice for Peak’s OEM customers.
  • Ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is provided for the service and support of all Peak Scientific products
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and installations
  • Working remotely with head office, you must be prepared, if requested, to provide worldwide service back up or technical support during holidays, sickness etc...

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Skills required:

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Language skills in English essential
  • Knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems
  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety

Experience and Education

Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry would be an advantage

                Only applicants with a university degree in a related subject will be considered.
