THE AUSTRALIA COMPANY: Peak Scientific Instruments (Pty) have been in operation since 2008 with the Head Office in Port Melbourne, Victoria. We are responsible for sales, marketing and servicing of all of Peak’s products in Australia. We have an outstanding reputation for fast and efficient service to our client base throughout the region.
 
THE ROLE: Field Service Technician reporting directly to the Country Manager with day to day to the Senior Field service engineer, this role will be based in NSW, but could involve travel throughout Australia.
 
Main work functions
  • Providing a high level of service and technical advice for Peak’s customers.
  • Working remotely where we have an installed base.
  • Ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is provided for the service and support of all Peak Scientific products.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, installations, troubleshooting and advice.
  • Report observations/ knowledge from the field back to the Australian office
  • Support re-seller and OEM’s requirements for service and technical support of the Peak product portfolio.
 
THE CANDIDATE:
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Language skills, well spoken and written English essential.
  • Knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems.
  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety as it impacts the position.
  • Quick to learn new skills.
  • Basic understanding of pressure systems and transportable gases.
  • Ability to work under pressure and think quickly to problem solve.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to interface comfortably and effectively both internally and externally with a broad spectrum of personalities.
  • Quickly use basic computing software and obtain information: Office 365 (word, powerpoint, excel), search engines (google, internet explorer), email (Outlook, calendar), iPhone (apps, download files).
  •  Flexible approach to travel with a VALID drivers licence and passport.
  • Thirst for knowledge and travel
  • Previous record keeping, service report writing and use of a ERP system preferable.
 
Education
Only applicants with one of the following will be considered.
  • University degree in Mechanical and or Electrical engineering
  • Technical College diploma in mechanical and or electrical engineering
 
Experience
Experience in maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry would be an advantage.
