THE COMPANY: Peak Scientific Instruments, a fast–growing, global company specialising in the design, manufacture and support of laboratory gas generators predominately for the life science market. We have been developing award-winning gas generation products since 1997 and now employ 480 people globally in 20 international offices.
 
Due to continuing success and growth, we are looking for a commercially aware Field Service Technician to support our service operations in Australia. Peak Australia was established in 2010 and currently has a team of 6 employees, with plans to expand over the next few years. 
 
THE ROLE: Reporting to the Country Manager, this role will be based in Melbourne, however interstate work will be required with overnight absences during the working week typically expected. As Field Service Technician you will be responsible for:
  • Providing a high level of hands-on service and technical advice to Peak customers, OEMs, distributors and internal staff.
  • Ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is provided for the service and support of all Peak products.
  • Using CRM to log phone calls, emails, parts, installations, services and utilisation reports.
  • Producing clear and accurate service reports for all field work/phone support provided.
  • Maintaining inventory and van stock by carrying out parts/tooling checks.
  • Working with the local team to develop instrument, parts and service guides.
  • Effectively managing your time to ensure customer expectations are met.
 
THE CANDIDATE: You will be self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new skills and work with minimal supervision. You will have the opportunity to receive Peak certified foundation training at our Global Training Centre. In addition, you will have the following:
  • Basic understanding of pressure systems and transportable gases.
  • Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry including compressor/hydraulic/filtration or electronic knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Ability to work autonomously and resourcefully.
  • Flexible approach to travel with a valid driving licence and passport.
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of IT applications including Office 365 (word, powerpoint, excel), search engines (google, internet explorer), email (Outlook, calendar), iPhone (apps, download files).
