Field Service Technician- Lille - France

Peak Scientific Instruments, a fast–growing company specialising in the manufacture of laboratory gas generators for the life science and biomedical market is looking to recruit a Field Service Technician.

We are an award winning company, with our head office based in Scotland, by Glasgow Airport and have a very strong reputation in the market place.  Our current turnover is £47m, with plans to grow significantly over the next few years.  We export 90% of our sales to approximately 126 countries

Reporting to the Service Manager, this new roles will be based in Lille. These roles will involve extensive travel around France and other countries within Europe.

Main Job functions:

  • Carry out planned maintenance, repairs, installations and training as well as general support in a professional, prompt and efficient manner to ensure total customer satisfaction

  • Respond effectively and professionally to all requests for service and support (telephone and email) internal and external

  • Maintain personal stock of parts and carry out inventory checks as requested

  • Maintain clear and accurate service reporting for all work carried out

  • Work with the sales team to develop both sales and service business in the territory

  • Establish an effective liaison with technical support to ensure a high level of communication and co-operation for all aspects of customer and product support

  • Inform Service Manager of all serious customer complaints and escalations

  • Take the initiative to continually enhance and develop knowledge and understanding of the complete product range

  • Provide a high level of service and technical advice for Peak customers, OEM’s, distributors and internal staff

Skills required:

  • Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry would be an advantage

  • Good understanding/experience of electronics, hydraulic and mechanical systems

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Quick to learn new skills/intuitive

  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems.

  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good understanding of Health and Safety.

  • Language skills – Fluent French and English essential.

  • Additional European languages an advantage.

Preferably educated to a degree standard in a relevant field, though qualification by experience will be considered.
