Field Service Technician - Liverpool & Manchester - Northern England

Peak Scientific Instruments, a fast–growing company specialising in the design and manufacture of laboratory gas generators for the life science and biomedical market is looking to recruit a Field Service Technician

We have gained an outstanding reputation in the market place, having recently won our 6th Queen’s award. Our current turnover is £50M with plans to grow significantly over the next few years.  90% of our products are exported to over 126 countries and we have a number of global offices including USA, China, South Africa, India, Brazil, Singapore, Mexico and Australia.

Reporting to the UK Service Manager and Senior Service Engineer, the successful applicant will ideally be based in the Liverpool/Manchester area. The role will involve extensive travel within England and Wales.

Main Job functions:

  • Providing a high level of service and technical advice for Peak’s customers.
  • Ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is provided for the service and support of all Peak Scientific products by working within a “right first time” culture.
  • Attend routine maintenance visits, breakdown repairs and site installations.
  • Working remotely from head office, you must be prepared, if requested, to provide worldwide service back up or technical support during holidays, sickness cover etc.

Skills required:

  • Educational requirements – OND / HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A formal engineering apprenticeship in M & E engineering is advantageous.
  • This is an autonomous position and you must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A good understanding & working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic / pneumatic systems.
  • An appreciation and basic understanding of electronic control systems (PLC’s).
  • Ability to work under pressure, often against tight business deadlines.
  • Good communication, IT and interpersonal skills.
  • Good perception of H&S Legislation and its implications in the workplace.

Experience:

Ideally you will have experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry.
