THE AUSTRALIA COMPANY: Peak Scientific Instruments (Pty) have been in operation since 2008 with the Head Office in Port Melbourne, Victoria. We are responsible for sales, marketing and servicing of all of Peak’s products in Australia. We have an outstanding reputation for fast and efficient service to our client base throughout the region.
 
THE ROLE: Field Service Technician (FST) reporting directly to the General Manager with day to day to the Senior Field Service Engineer, this role will be based in Western Australia, but could involve travel throughout Australia.
 
Main work functions
  • Carry out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, installations and training as well as general support in a professional, prompt and efficient manner to ensure total customer satisfaction.
  • Respond effectively and professionally to all customer requests for service and support (telephone and email).
  • Provide customers with a clear and accurate service report for all work carried out. Submit all service reports at the end of each visit through online phone application.
  • Maintain and replenish personal stock of parts and carry out inventory checks as requested.
  • Ensure an effective liaison with the service co-ordinator to assure a high level of co-operation for all aspects of customer satisfaction and product support through timely providing service and recorded in SAP
  • Report all serious customer complaints and escalations that take in excess of 48 hours to resolve.
  • Take the initiative to continually enhance and develop knowledge and understanding of the complete product range and how they work during on-call days.
  • Pass- through knowledge from the field to sale and service sales through SAP information share platform.
 
THE CANDIDATE:
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Quick to learn new skills.
  • Basic understanding of pressure systems and transportable gases.
  • Good practical skills and a methodical approach to resolving problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and think quickly to problem solve.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to interface comfortably and effectively both internally and externally with a broad spectrum of personalities.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety as it impacts the position.
  • Quickly use basic computing software and obtain information: Office 365 (word, powerpoint, excel), search engines (google, internet explorer), email (Outlook, calendar), iPhone (apps, download files).
  • Flexible approach to travel with a VALID drivers licence and passport.
  • Thirst for knowledge and travel
  • Previous record keeping, service report writing and use of a ERP system preferable.
 
Experience
  • Experience of maintaining pressure systems and transportable gases in a similar or related industry including Compressor/ hydraulic/ filtration or electronic knowledge will be advantageous.
  • White card/ Working with children’s and other additional certifications advantageous though not essential.
  • Previous customer relationship/ retail or other sales experience desired
 
Education
Training or qualifications in related areas.
