The Role: This role offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated developer to contribute their vision to the future of design in a company which is pioneering within its industry.

As the GUI/Embedded Software Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Director, you will work within the Design Engineering team to create modern and dynamic user interfaces and controls for our gas generator products. Liaising with product management, electronic engineers and design engineers, you will have responsibility for providing innovative, cost effective solutions for all new product developments. You will also be responsible for component specification and sourcing, graphic design, and programming. Supporting new product introduction into the business and maintaining support through continual improvement and critical updates through the product life cycle will also be key.

Key duties include:

  • To initiate, devise, develop and evaluate new product controls, GUI concepts and technologies.

  • Supporting scope and design of PCBs and other related controls devices.

  • Creation of embedded software control systems

  • Design and implementation of UI validation test plans.

  • Be involved with the hands-on build of prototypes, and utilising rapid prototyping methods and equipment.

  • Develop drawings and schematics for production and maintain all technical documents that support the production process.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experienced in embedded C and Python programming

  • Experienced in UI design

  • Experienced in PCB and systems design / architecture

  • Experienced in design for industrial applications

  • Educated to degree level in Software/Electronic or Product Design or equivalent industry experience.

  • Experience of working with microcontrollers

  • Digital communication and networking

  • Capability in visual interaction design tools, eg Sketch, InVision, Axure, Adobe Suite
