Health and Safety Officer - Glasgow

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Inchinnan.

This is a newly created role and will be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Officer to develop and maintain a Health and Safety Management system, compliant to ISO45001/ISO9001 and to co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects with regards to both management systems.

THE ROLE: Within this role the successful candidate will establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety within Peak Scientific, both locally and globally, are adhered to.

As the Health and Safety Officer, reporting to the Engineering Director, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health.

  • Ensuring that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are compliant, regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

  • Ensuring the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

  • Ensuring the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.

  • Ensuring that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements are implemented.

  • Ensuring that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.

  • Establishing a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.

  • Managing and chairing the Health & Safety Committee meetings, ensuring that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.

  • Providing regular reports to the Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Management Team on relevant health and safety activities.

THE CANDIDATE: You will be an experienced Health and Safety Officer with a professional approach and strong interpersonal skills. As well as being NEBOSH qualified or working towards a NEBOSH certificate accreditation, you will be COSHH Trained, have the ability to handle H&S investigations and be able to gather, analyse and report on key H&S data/statistics. You will also have experience in implementing ISO45001 or have a working knowledge of ISO45001. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative and be able to work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
