Peak Scientific Instruments is the global market leader in the design, manufacture and servicing of instrument gas generators for analytical laboratories in the life science and biomedical sectors.  Established in the UK in 1997 near Glasgow (Scotland), where its corporate Headquarters, and high-tech manufacturing and R&D facilities reside, Peak is one of Scotland’s fastest-growing manufacturing businesses, with over a decade of sustained high growth and a significant local presence in every continent – including major operations in North America, China and India.

Due to continuing success and growth, we are looking for a HR Generalist (HRG) to support our operations in North America. The role will be based from our Billerica office with regional responsibilities of 60 employees. 

THE ROLE:
Reporting to the GM for North America, and with a direct line reporting to the Group HR Manager, the HRG position will provide advice and support to the senior management teams and employees on all human resource-related issues. The HRG will act as an employee champion, a culture carrier and change agent, ensuring that Peak values form the core of our decisions and operations, maintaining the Peak culture throughout this region.

Other key deliverables include:

  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance in your region. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Working closely with the global HR team to ensure consistency in HR operations’.
  • Partner with Global Head of Recruitment to support all aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Collaboratively consults with Hiring Managers to determine and understand the talent needs and create an effective search strategy to fill open positions and build candidate pipelines
  • Playing a key role and administering the entire employee life-cycle, including resourcing, onboarding and exiting.
  • Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Providing day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Administering the appraisal process and identifying training needs.
  • Providing guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Review and benchmarks regional pay and benefits and administers payroll

THE CANDIDATE:  
Will have a minimum of 5 + years HR generalist experience with core competencies in recruiting, compensation and benefits, employee relations, talent development, organizational change, labor relations, employee development, and performance management. In addition you will have a high level of employment law knowledge related to North America and a track record of working in culturally diverse organisations. A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or psychology, business, or related field is essential.
