HR Generalist - USA

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Generalist to join Peak Scientific, based in Billerica, MA.

Peak Inc. is the rapidly expanding North American arm of Peak Scientific, with its main US office located in Billerica, Massachusetts, and plans for further significant growth over the next few years. You would be joining a North American team of around 60 staff, including dedicated sales and field service engineer teams covering the whole of mainland US and key territories in Canada.

Reporting to the Global Head of HR (GHHR) with a dotted line to the General Manager (GM), you will work in true partnership with the business, playing a key role in supporting the people strategy and “employee life cycle”, effectively providing flexible, wide-ranging operational Human Resources support to the North American region. Collaborating with the NA Management teams and employees, this role will be responsible for ensuring compliance at all times with legislation in place. This is an opportunity to act as an employee champion, a true culture carrier and change agent whilst ensuring that Peak’s values form the core of our decisions and operations, maintaining the Peak culture throughout this region.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Managing payroll for region, initiating with local providers, submitting any changes required for the month and liaising with Finance colleagues through to payment approval
  • Processing workers compensation claims, LOAs, Disability claims, unemployment claims, FMLA requests and employment verifications
  • Providing advice and guidance to management and employees on all people practices for region
  • Researching and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines for region
  • Partnering with managers on matters of discipline, grievance and performance improvement
  • Contributing towards the strategy by supporting the full scope of HR activities such as performance management, total rewards, employee relations, coaching and team development
  • Liaising with managers to ensure employee training needs are met and training plan is implemented
  • Partner with L&D Specialist to support all aspects of L&D delivery within NA
  • Partner with Recruitment to support all aspects of the recruitment process for region

Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with demonstrable experience working as an HR Generalist covering full employee life cycle. With a good level of employment law knowledge related to North America, you will be a confident and trusted business advisor to your stakeholders.

You will possess:

  • Excellent MS skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships
  • Ability to think outside the box to make decisions with confidence and expertise

  • Genuine drive and passion for the organisation and to make a difference
  • Supportive and encouraging team player
