Instructional Design Specialist - Glasgow

Are you animated about training? Can you bring training to life?             

Peak Scientific, a fast-growing company specialising in the manufacture of laboratory gas generators for the life science and biomedical market, is looking to recruit an Instructional Design Specialist to join our Training Design Group.  

The Role

Reporting to the Training Design Lead, you will take responsibility for providing creative training design and will be working closely with teams at HQ, global colleagues and OEM customers.

This is a role that allows real creative autonomy and you will have a major influence on the planning and design of our online training resources. A real people person, you will be working closely with a number of key functions within the business to address their training needs.

Key tasks include:

  • Utilising SolidWorks Composer to create animations detailing specific functional aspects of our gas generators.
  • Utilising Adobe Captivate software to create engaging, interactive, eLearning resources.
  • Utilising Adobe Creative Cloud applications to embed audio and video content within the Captivate package.
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyse training needs, design and develop tailored, effective eLearning resources.
  • Identifying project requirements and delivering high quality resource in a timely fashion.
  • Managing the branding of our training in conjunction with the Marketing team.
  • Maintenance of online training packages.

 

The Person

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.

  • Experience of working in a graphic, instructional design or content developer capacity.

  • Have the drive to push and develop our training resources.

Other key requirements are:

  • Demonstrable experience of eLearning Authoring tools (Adobe Captivate, ideally)

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud applications
  • Experience and application of the full training cycle (ADDIE etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in the theory and practice of instructional design and web based eLearning standards and specifications (SCORM, xAPI etc.)
  • Working knowledge of HTML (including HTML5) and web technologies such as CSS, would be a benefit.
  • Great attention to detail, passionate about producing high quality content.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Technically minded, with the desire to get more involved in our technical content.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated and have the ability to work both independently and within a close-knit team.
