Manufacturing Engineer – Process Development (Advanced Manufacturing)

Inchinnan, Scotland | Head Office

Peak Scientific is a global leader in gas generation solutions for laboratories, with innovation and continuous improvement at the heart of everything we do. We’re now looking for a Manufacturing Engineer – Process Development to join our Manufacturing Engineering team at our Head Office in Inchinnan.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a passion for automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and Industry 4.0, to play a key role in shaping the future of our manufacturing processes.

About the role

As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will drive the adoption and integration of advanced manufacturing technologies to improve throughput, efficiency, quality, and sustainability. You will work at the forefront of implementing our Industry 4.0 roadmap and data driven manufacturing, helping to ensure Peak Scientific remains a leader in modern manufacturing.

You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead and work closely with Production, Quality, IT, and R&D teams across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics/cobots, sensors, and digital twins
  • Design, program, and commission automation solutions, including PLCs, robotics, machine vision systems, and HMIs
  • Lead process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 methodologies
  • Use data, sensors, and IIoT tools to monitor performance, enable predictive maintenance, and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain digital work instructions, test procedures, and maintenance documentation, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001
  • Manage technology‑driven projects from concept through implementation, including vendor selection and cost justification
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing teams on new systems and technologies
  • Champion health, safety, and sustainable manufacturing practices.

About you

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience with automation, robotics, and PLC programming (e.g. Omron, Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of Industry 4.0, including IIoT, digital twins, and data analytics
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills
  • Confident communicator, able to collaborate cross‑functionally and train others
