Manufacturing Engineering - Team Lead
Location: Glasgow, Inchinnan, Renfrewshire
Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a talented Manufacturing Engineering – Team Lead to manage our Production Support Team here at Peak HQ in Inchinnan, Renfrew. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, your primary focus will be to lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers to support the smooth and reliable manufacture of Peak gas generators. You will be responsible for delivering Engineering support to Operations to resolve build or test issues to ensure product meets delivery schedule and quality parameters.
The role will also involve:
- Prioritising workload of the team to meet departmental and company objectives.
- Resolving build issues coming from assembly or quality, either internal or supplier, that may require formal investigations to determine root cause and to implement corrective action.
- Reviewing departmental SOP’s in conjunction with the technical and functional managers, to ensure functional processes are current.
- Managing the AMR (Alternative Material Review) process that evaluates alternative material proposed for the inclusion in Peak Products and generate reports giving a recommendation to Supply Chain & QC.
- Ensuring that SAP data is current and accurate.
- Monitoring production documentation such as Work Instructions, BoM and routings ensuring all are up to date.
- Prioritising and allocating resources to implement ECN changes or to correct inaccuracies in production data.
- Monitoring build standard times and managing the process for updating times found to be not reflective of actual practice.
- Conducting annual employee reviews and mentoring and developing the team.
- Implementing and managing key performance indicators and providing monthly management reports.
You will have a proven track record of leading small teams in a fast paced manufacturing environment. An understanding of material and assembly processes is essential and you will possess an HNC/HND in Mechanical, Production or equivalent qualification. Or alternatively, have experience at a senior level in a high mix, low volume progressive production environment. The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Creative engineering skills and is comfortable working with tools, including a working knowledge of pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Proven analytical problem-solving skills.
- Keen attention to design and documentational details.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques and value engineering, preferably a minimum of a green belt in LSS and experience of leading cross functional projects.
- Experience of improvement techniques and production analysis.
- PC literate with experience of MS Office tools and computerised production control systems.
- Knowledge of MRP systems (SAP Business One preferred).
- A working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system principles and the application to departmental and company processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Ability to see the big picture in order to prioritise effectively.
