Quality Engineer - Glasgow

Reporting to the Vendor Quality Engineer, this role is primarily focused on providing quality engineering knowledge and guidance to line technicians with respect quality standards, product and process/systems knowledge. You will be providing support supplier management by collating and reviewing data and working with suppliers to resolve quality issues as well as conducting supplier audits.

Your duties will include:

  • Inspecting and reporting (FAI) on new components/metalwork received from suppliers in support of new product introduction
  • Developing quality assurance techniques and methodologies and applying to PEAK manufacturing
  • Supporting quality technicians with respect to quality standards, product knowledge and awareness of PEAK manufacturing systems in order to quickly resolve inspection issues
  • Collecting data on supplier quality from incoming inspection and from NCR’s raised on the shopfloor to provide data on supplier performance
  • Working with suppliers on specific quality issues and support them to improve manufacturing processes or collect feedback on manufacturability of the design and feedback information to design engineering
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to introduce quality checks/processes into the new processes and products

You will have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and a team player. In this role, you will use measurement instruments such as such as digital callipers, digital volt meters, pressure gauges and flow meters. Experience of interpreting Technical Drawings and specification would be essential as well as the ability to use hand and power tools to build electro-mechanical devices. Experience of Lean Six-Sigma would be advantageous.

You will also possess:

  • A minimum of an HNC in an engineering related subject, preferably incorporating quality.
  • Experience of internal auditing of Quality Management Systems
  • Ability to interpretate and apply product standards
  • Willingness to embrace new challenges within a growing company and the flexibility and commitment to achieve company objectives
  • Good working knowledge of MSWord and Excel and a clean, full UK driving license
