Senior Controls and Electronics Engineer - Glasgow

As Senior Controls and Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in driving the design and development of our generator control systems from conception to manufacture.  Identification and evaluation of new methods, suppliers and processes will be critical in improving quality, functionality and performance through innovative design.

Working with the Product and Design Engineering Group and as part of the senior team, you will be based at Head Office, Inchinnan and at our Rapid Prototyping Unit in Port Glasgow. Reporting to Head of Design Engineering, you will be responsible for setting and maintaining best practice across several Design and Development Teams. With a relevant qualification and/or relevant experience you will bring a genuine passion for technology and a robust understanding of controls and electronic systems from a hardware and firmware perspective.

You will be comfortable working in a hands-on capacity and bring a fresh approach to problem solving. You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and ensuring code generation is consistent across various projects
  • Communicating status of strategic projects
  • Maintaining a controls focused development roadmap
  • Mentoring other controls focused team members
  • Identifying strategic controls focused projects and seek Board approval as required

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a senior controls/electronics focused role and have knowledge of the following:

  • Programme creation using MATLAB / Simulink
  • Rapid Prototyping and Concept Engineering
  • Developing connected product or solutions
  • PCB component selection, test and hardware
